Jan Cahill |
| Jan can be summed up as being truly inspirational. She exudes energy and vitality from every pore and loves with a passion any form of glass. After seeing glass beading demonstrated in the US and because she is a self confessed pyromaniac, it didn't take much to be seduced into glass beading. | ![]() |

Starting out on a Hot Head over 8 years ago, Jan taught herself how to make glass beads, with some guidance from "Glass Bead Making" by Lewis Wilson (Video by Crystal Myths 1993). Jan is now a full-time glass beader, working six hours a day, seven days a week and has since migrated to a Nortel Minor torch with a concentrator. Occasionally, Jan will come out of her studio to teach advanced glass beading techniques (refer to article in July " Melbourne Advanced Course") which was truly inspiring! |

| While Jan may live and breathe glass beads, she does manage to slip a few other passions into her busy life. Jan's 32 year old WARD Kiln, from her days as a potter is given quite a workout with glass fusing and annealing. She dabbles in silver smithing and is a sports fan of any top quality sports such as the Olympics. | ![]() |

Colour: All transparent rods "cause its glass you can see through it"! Particularly partial to the turquoise transparent. Her least favourite colour would be red. Jan especially hates red lips on fish beads ... so stay away from that red! Bead Style: The encased floral beads. Bead Artist: Kristen Frantzen Orr, Nancy Pilgrim and Inara Knight |
