Advanced Beading Course
with Jan Cahill
Written by Cathy Charles with
special thanks to Jan Cahill and Deb Lewis
The Melbourne Bead Symposium was preceded by an advanced
beading course instructed by Jan Cahill. The above eye chockies (chockie being the
Aussie version of candy) are all beads Jan created prior to the
course to help inspire us in class.
Over the two days we created round (not to be confused with
donut beads!), square, triangle, barrel, Jan's UFOs - also known as bi-cones but
doesn't UFO sound much better and melon beads. These were the basis for creating
some of the best sculptural beads I have ever done. From these base beads we
went on to make a fish, kidlet and turtle.
The following are some of the beads I made over the two
days.
